Rising star Yip Tsz-fung became the first local player to get past the first round of the Hong Kong Squash Open after beating the higher-ranked Tom Richards of England.
The 22-year-old jumped to an early 2-1 lead before taking the match in five games. Yip will face the world number nine Egyptian Tarek Momen for a place in the quarter-finals.
Leo Au bowed out to current world champion Gregory Gaultier in four games.
Hong Kong's top female player Annie Au also lost in the first round, falling in four games to Joelle King of New Zealand.
