Swimmer Stephanie Au has been given the honour of carrying Hong Kong's flag into next month's Olympic Games. She received the news from Chef de Mission, Kenneth Fok, at a presentation ceremony held at Government House.
The 24-year-old will make her third Olympic appearance by leading the Hong Kong delegation into Maracana Stadium for the opening ceremony on August 5.
''It will be the shiniest day ever for me", said Au, who will be competing in the women's 4x100 metres medley relay in Rio.
Au, who holds multiple Hong Kong records, made her Olympic debut in Beijing 2008. She went on to win four medals in the East Asian Games the following year.
