The MTR Corporation said on Monday that its much-anticipated South Island Line will open on December 28, despite earlier warnings that construction complications at Admiralty Station may cause delays.
The HK$17 billion line will run from Admiralty to Ocean Park, Wong Chuk Hang, Lei Tung, and South Horizons in Ap Lei Chau.
The corporation's chief executive officer, Lincoln Leong, said an open day will be held on December 24 to enable passengers to familiarise themselves with the new stations.
"This new line will bring MTR’s services to all 18 districts in Hong Kong, allowing passengers to enjoy more convenient and more seamless journeys to the different corners of our wonderful city. Admiralty Station will serve as a strategic rail interchange station for four MTR lines. It will truly become the main rail hub in Hong Kong", he said.
