Kitchee are celebrating one of the biggest wins in club history after beating Vietnam's Hanoi FC to move one step closer to qualifying for the Asian Champions League.
Local boy Lam Ka-wai scored the decisive goal in the last minute of extra time to give the home side a 3-2 win after a see-saw battle at Hong Kong Stadium on Wednesday.
The visitors took the lead on the 73rd minute through the Argentine Marronkle Gonzalo before Sandro equalized 12 minutes later to send the game to extra time.
Alex Akande took the lead for Kitchee in the 109th minute only to have Gonzalo grabbed his second goal six minutes later.
The Hong Kong international Lam found the winner by heading home off a free-kick from Fernando just as the referee was about to blow the whistle for shootouts.
Kitchee will travel to South Korea to take on Ulsan Hyundai on February 7. A win for Kitchee will give them a place in the group stage of the Champions League, joining rivals Eastern who had already qualified.
