A little over two weeks after the death of Liu Xiaobo, the Civic Party held a protest outside Beijing's liaison office on Friday calling for the late activist's wife to be freed.
Liu Xia has been under house arrest since 2010, a year after her husband was jailed on subversion charges. He died from liver cancer earlier this month.
The party also urged mainland authorities to release nine people who were arrested for publicly paying tribute to the deceased Nobel Laureate.
Civic Party lawmaker Kwok Ka-Ki said Liu Xia should be released immediately.
“She is only the wife of Liu Xiaobo… Liu Xia hasn’t done anything breaching the law of the PRC,” Kwok said.
