Highways director's explanation about bridge doesn't make sense: lawmaker Listen
Civic Party legislator Jeremy Tam says the explanation given by the highways director about the safety of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge doesn’t make sense. He said Daniel Chung wasn’t able to provide the evidence or the relevant material to allay the public’s concern. Chung had said there was no safety issue with the bridge and no evidence to show that wave-absorbing concrete blocks placed around one of its artificial islands have drifted away. Tam told Annemarie Evans that the response from the government over the matter had also been slow:
Campaign launched to raise money to pursue case against former Chief Executive Listen
The Democratic Party has launched a crowd-funding campaign aimed at raising at least HK$2 million to pursue the case of former Chief Executive CY Leung for the HK$50 million payment he received from Australian firm UGL before taking office in 2012. One of the party's lawmakers Lam Cheuk-ting said legal advice from the UK concluded that there was a prima facie case against Leung on suspicion of bribery and misconduct in public office. The ICAC is still investigating the case. Lam spoke to Priscilla Ng:
