Jail sentence for photo-taking in court too light: lawyer Listen
Legal sector lawmaker Dennis Kwok says the seven-day jail sentence meted out to a mainland woman for taking photos during a trial in the High Court was quite light. He said there was a similar case in the United Kingdom and the person involved in that case was given a much heavier sentence. Kwok said the mainland woman took the photos despite prohibition on such acts. He told Annemarie Evans that the judiciary should be given extra resources so that it could deploy marshals to deal with such people:
Indian farmers demand loan waivers Listen
A nationwide farmers' protest in India has entered its fifth day, as they demand a complete loan waiver in the agriculture sector. This could have an impact on the price of vegetables and milk. Over the weekend there were clashes between protesting farmers and traders. The protests are planned to last until June 10th and also mark the first anniversary of protests last year that resulted in the deaths of six farmers.
