Government just buying time by delaying footbridge funding request: legislator Listen
Land Justice League lawmaker Chu Hoi-dick says the government has delayed its controversial funding request for a HK$1.7 billion footbridge in Yuen Long so that it could get the support of pro-establishment lawmakers who are sceptical right now. He said he doesn’t believe the delay is aimed at reaching a consensus in the community. Professional bodies have called the bridge "extravagant and wasteful", saying there's a much cheaper alternative. Chu, who represents the New Territories West constituency, spoke to Annemarie Evans:

Daniel Ho from the Hong Kong University’s School of Public Health says the hiring of 20 retired police officers to deal with smoking offenders is better than nothing. The group was hired by the Tobacco Control Office after it came under criticism from the Ombudsman and the Auditor for failing to conduct enough inspections in problem areas and evening hours. But Dr Ho told Priscilla Ng that those enforcing the law could still face problems:
