Legal sector lawmaker, Dennis Kwok, says the banning of the Hong Kong National Party by the government has set a worrying trend. He said it would have a negative impact on the freedom of speech and expression that is guaranteed by the Basic Law. Kwok also said he cannot see any clear evidence of the reasons the administration gave for banning the party. He spoke to Jim Gould:

The chairman of the Pink Alliance, Alfred Ip, says he is pleased that the Appeal Court has given the green light for a gay civil servant to take his battle for spousal benefits to the city’s top court. In a written judgment, the judges said it was debatable whether the government was justified in rejecting benefits for the male spouse of Angus Leung, calling it a matter of great public importance.
