Reclamation would cost twice the government estimate: Edward Yiu Listen
A former legislator says the government's proposal to reclaim 1,700 hectares of land off east Lantau for housing would probably end up costing twice the amount it has estimated. The administration has put the price tag at 500 billion dollars, but former surveying and planning sector lawmaker, Edward Yiu, said the amount may hit 1 trillion dollars. The Chief Executive Officer of GEO Securities, Francis Lun, says the fall in the Hong Kong stock market is expected to continue. He said Thursday’s plunge in stock prices was as a result of the sharp fall on Wall Street. Lun said the Hang Seng Index would have to drop to around the 24,000-level before finding support.
