Yuen Long striker Aleksander Randelovic insists his team have something to prove in the upcoming FA Cup final. The 33rd edition of the event, formerly known as the Golden Jubilee Cup, features a pair of Hong Kong Premier League strugglers as the New Territories side get set to face Pegasus on Sunday at Hong Kong Stadium.
Maybe no one expected Yuen Long to make it all the way to the FA Cup final but this is what we have done together", says Randelovic who hails from Serbia. "As long as we can maintain our fighting spirit in the final, we definitely have what it takes to win the FA Cup".
Local football writer Tobias Zuser expects Yuen Long to step up their game: "Based on the last few weeks, I do see a slight advantage of confidence for Yuen Long. Their last FA Cup victory was 1979 so they have reasons to be on fire".
Yuen Long are third from bottom in the Premier League with 15 points from their 16 games. They and Pegasus combined for a meagre seven league wins on the season.
Pegasus, under the guidance of Englishman Kevin Bond, made the final after knocking off Southern in the semi-finals and South China in the last-eight.
