President Xi Jinping visited the Chinese People's Liberation Army Garrison at the Shek Kong Barracks in Yuen Long on Friday morning.
He inspected a military parade, which was made up of 20 platoons involving over 3,200 soldiers.
More than 60 armoured vehicles and 12 helicopters were on display for President Xi, who’s also the Chairman of the Central Military Commission.
Later in the afternoon, the president will meet with young people and various sectors of the community before attending a welcoming banquet and variety show in Wan Chai.
President Xi's wife, Peng Liyuan, meanwhile, visited an elderly home at Wong Chuk Hang. She stayed at the centre for around 40 minutes and did not take reporters' questions.
