Hong Kong's sole representative in the Winter Olympics is to leave for South Korea on Wednesday.
Arabella Ng qualified for the 2018 Pyeongchang Games two weeks ago and will fly the SAR flag at Friday’s opening ceremony.
Ng was handed over the Hong Kong flag at a presentation ceremony at Olympic House on Wednesday.
“It’s super exciting,” said 16-year-old Ng. “I’m just glad I can add Hong Kong to the list of places competing. I’m just going to do my best and hopefully make Hong Kong proud.”
Ng’s parents Tim and Ashley met in Hong Kong. The Ng family moved to the Canadian city of Whistler shortly after Arabella was born. Ng currently attends school and trains in Vermont in the United States
Ng is due to compete in alpine skiing specialising in the slalom and giant slalom.
This is the first time a skier is representing Hong Kong in a Winter Olympics.
