Southern district councillor Lo Kin-hei of the Democratic Party said on Wednesday that he plans to hold door-to-door consultations before implementing projects in his district to increase people's participation.
"I expect to involve them [local residents] in our whole process, including consultation, including decision making, including brainstorming as well," said Lo.
He said they have received a lot of good ideas from the community and the councils should be the ones that should try to convert those ideas into practice.
"The way we do it will be going to their residence and talk to them, listen to them and in our process involve them in our decision making," he said.
The can monitor the voting on projects they are interested in and keep a track on the implementation to see how much progress is made, said Lo.
He told RTHK's Janice Wong that this may mean projects will take longer to implement, but he said it's worth the delay.
