The government on Monday said it had ordered the owners of 20 luxury homes at Beaulieu Peninsula in Tuen Mun to remove illegal structures and fix other unauthorised work at their properties.
The Buildings Department also announced prosecutions against four homeowners.
A government spokesperson said authorities had previously issued removal orders to individual houses of the estate and prosecuted owners who failed to comply, but aerial photos showed that there were still other properties with illegal structures or that unlawfully occupied government land, prompting officials to conduct inspections.
The latest checks followed inspections at another luxury seaside estate, Redhill Peninsula in Tai Tam, where officials found 70 out of 85 homes had encroached on government land or built illegal structures.
Inspectors focused in on Redhill in September when torrential downpours triggered a landslide in the area and undermined the structural safety of some of the homes.
