Government accused of delaying removal of illegal structures  Listenfacebook
The government has been accused of dragging its feet in clamping down on illegal structures in the New Territories. The powerful rural body, Heung Yee Kuk, confirmed that authorities have decided to delay law-enforcement action against these unauthorised structures -- as long as homeowners prove they pose no immediate danger. But civil and structural engineer, Simon So, says demolition work isn't that hard. Rather, he thinks it's an excuse by the government to delay its campaign against houses that are three storeys or higher. He spoke to Candice Wong:
Foundations in place for harbourfront: Brooke  Listenfacebook
The recently departed chairman of the Harbourfront Commission, Nicholas Brooke, says he left the post proud of what the advisory body has achieved. But he says he also regretted that the harbour's future has still not been entrusted to a harbourfront authority. Brooke chaired the commission since it was set up in 2010, and he'll be replaced by long-serving commission member Vincent Ng. He told Richard Pyne that while much of the 73 kilometre harbourfront remains inaccessible to the public, the foundations are in place to create something special:

Britain's Prime Minister, Theresa May, has appointed Dominic Raab, a staunchly pro-Brexit lawmaker, to replace David Davis as the most senior official in charge of negotiating Britain's exit from the European Union. Davis quit on Sunday, saying he could not support May's plan to maintain close trade and regulatory ties with the EU after the departure takes place next year. The resignation came just two days after she announced she had finally united her quarrelsome government behind her plan for a divorce deal with the EU.
