Tunnel toll adjustment proposals 'fair': expert Listen
Transport consultant Alok Jain says Hong Kong people should accept that raising tunnel tolls is the only way to balance out the traffic flow between the city's three cross-harbour tunnels. Most lawmakers are still opposed to the plan even after the government made minor tweaks to its unpopular proposal to raise charges at the central and eastern crossings, and lower tolls for the western tunnel. But officials are standing firm on the proposed toll adjustments, and will be bringing the plan to Legco for a non-binding motion again later this month after pulling a similar proposal in January.
