Broadcaster might lay off more staff  Listenfacebook
An academic says i-Cable Communications might lay off more staff if it is unable to make ends meet in future. Grace Leung, who is a journalism lecturer at the Chinese University, says the broadcaster should give its news staff the freedom to decide its editorial policy. She says if it introduces self-censorship, the station’s competitiveness will be affected. Leung also tells Annemarie Evans that the government should play a greater role in promoting the broadcasting industry in Hong Kong.

Forum on plastic pollution in sea  Listenfacebook
The Maritime Museum in Central has organised a public forum on Saturday to highlight the issue of plastic pollution in Hong Kong waters. It will be held between 4pm and 6:30pm to highlight the problem, as an alarmingly vast amount of plastic floating in the harbour ends up on the seabed. The museum’s director, Richard Wesley, speaks to Annemarie Evans.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad barred  Listenfacebook
State media in Iran says former president, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has been disqualified from standing in next month's presidential election. Only six people have been approved by the Guardian Council, the clerical body that vets candidates. Paul Rogers, Professor of Peace Studies at Bradford University in the UK, tells Annemarie Evans why Ahmadinejad has been barred.
