Government urged to stop giving out plastic umbrella covers Listen
A green group has urged the government to stop giving out disposable plastic umbrella covers. Greeners Action recently monitored 83 public facilities run by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. 70 percent handed out these plastic covers even though many of the sites use non-slippery floor materials such as carpets or ceramic tiles. Australia's prime minister says he could quit Parliament soon Listen
Australia's embattled Prime Minister, Malcolm Turnbull, says he will quit Parliament on Friday if his disgruntled party continues to try to oust him. This could force a by-election that could cost the government its single-seat majority or push his successor into immediately calling general elections. Turnbull had been under mounting pressure from supporters of his rival -- former cabinet minister Peter Dutton -- to hold a leadership ballot of lawmakers in their conservative Liberal Party. RTHK’s Australia correspondent, Gerry Gannon, spoke to Annemarie Evans:
