Hong Kong stocks closed Tuesday with small gains after reversing an earlier sharp loss as traders tracked a positive lead from Wall Street while awaiting a key Federal Reserve policy decision later in the day.

The Hang Seng Index edged up 0.1 percent, or 12 points, to 21,101.

Mainland markets were closed for a public holiday. (AFP)
