Hustle and bustle returned to many restaurants on Sunday as people made the most of eased social distancing measures and headed out to celebrate Mother's Day.

The festive day came just days after the government relaxed its cap on restaurant seating per table from four to eight.

At one Chinese restaurant in Mong Kok, a grandmother surnamed Wong told RTHK that her family of nine had to sit at two tables to comply with the rule, but that did not dampen their spirits.

"[I'm] happy that my children and grandchildren, three generations, are here," she said, pointing out that it's the first time in more than two years for them to eat out together.

The flower market in Prince Edward was packed as well, with many fathers buying flowers with their children.

"This one is for mommy, this one is for granny and the other one is for our helper," said one shopper.

And one primary school boy was spotted buying a bouquet for his mother on his own.

"Mommy, happy Mother's Day, I'm all grown up now and can take care of myself," he said.
