The government says more measures will be put in place to stamp out suspected profiteering in the booking of recreation and sports venues, starting from next Monday.

Under new arrangements announced by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) on Wednesday, people booking public facilities through the government's online system will be given priority over those queuing up at service counters and kiosks, in a bid to combat what authorities said are "queuing gangs".

Those who use the online service can make their bookings 15 minutes earlier than others.

Officials are also barring organisations from changing the names under which bookings are made, after receiving complaints about suspected touting activities by certain groups that made unauthorised transfers.

The LCSD said only the person whose name is listed on the approval letter by the department can take up a booked session.
