The Democratic Party on Friday said its key members Lee Wing-tat and his wife, Chan Shu-ying, have quit.
In a statement, it said the party's central committee has accepted their resignations, effective from May 27.
Party chairman Lo Kin-hei said he respects the couple's decision and thanked them for their contributions to the party and Hong Kong.
Lee, a former legislator, and his wife, a former district councillor, moved to the United Kingdom last year.
