A train driver died on Saturday after the vehicle was partially derailed by a sudden mudslide in Guizhou province.
The train was heading from Guiyang to Guangzhou when the mud knocked two carriages off the tracks at a tunnel near Rongjiang station at 10.21am.
Xinhua News Agency reported a train attendant and seven passengers were taken to hospital and more than 100 travellers had to be evacuated. No one suffered life-threatening injuries.
Mainland authorities are investigating.
