Chief Executive-elect John Lee on Monday said there are four key areas when it comes to strengthening the quality and level of governance.
In a commentary published in the Wen Wei Po newspaper, Lee said his 35 years of experience working in the police force helped him to understand the importance of rising to any challenges to tackle problems.
He pointed out that it’s important to plan carefully for each project and focus on the outcome.
The city’s next leader also highlighted the significance of building strong team spirit and having good risk management skills to plan for any adversities that may arise.
Lee also stressed in the article that if national security cannot be guaranteed, there will not be prosperity and stability in society.
“It is only if the society is stable that we can push ahead with economic development, and ensure the sustainability of One Country, Two Systems,” he wrote.
He said with the revamped electoral system in place over the next five years, the SAR government will lead Hong Kong citizens to scale new heights and start a new chapter.
