The number of coronavirus cases in a Macau outbreak jumped to 110 on Thursday, as the city launched another round of mass testing.

The screening will run until midnight on Friday.

The gaming hub tested over 600,000 residents in its first round of screening that started on Sunday, and has placed more than 4,000 people under medical observation due to links to the confirmed cases.

A total of 14 locations, including a hotel, have also been put under lockdown following the emergence of Covid infections.

Meanwhile all schools, except tertiary institutions, will start their summer break early.

Macau's Chief Executive Ho Iat-seng is due to meet the media on Thursday afternoon to give an update on the city’s pandemic situation.
