The government announced on Monday that all current social distancing curbs will stay in place until at least July 13.
These measures include a requirement for rapid tests for bar and club customers and a ban on public gatherings of more than four people.
The restrictions had originally been set to expire on Thursday, but officials pointed to a rise in daily Covid cases and sewage surveillance data for the need to extend the measures.
They said the next administration had been consulted over the decision, as the extension will continue into the new term of government.
