Police have detained a man over the murder of a 23-year-old woman in Thursday night.

The force said in a statement that the victim’s body was discovered inside a hotel room on Austin Road West in Tsim Sha Tsui after the suspect, 28, had made a report to the police.

There, they discovered that she had sustained multiple injuries and was certified dead at the scene. Officers also found a knife there.

The woman’s family members had filed a missing persons report to police on Thursday morning, saying she had gone missing after leaving her Sham Shui Po home on Wednesday.

The force said investigations are ongoing and a post-mortem examinations will be conducted later.
