Doctors at the Grantham Hospital have issued an emergency appeal for a lung donation to save the life of a 32-year-old woman, who’s suffering from a critical heart and lung condition.

Lulu Ng’s attending physician, Dr Michael Wong, said the patient has been suffering from an autoimmune disease since 2014, and developed pulmonary arterial hypertension three years ago.

Her condition continued to deteriorate, and she was admitted to the hospital’s cardiac care unit last week after suffering from right heart failure and an irregular heartbeat.

“She is still feeling shortness of breath, and her appetite is not very good,” Wong said, while noting that the patient has lost around 13 kg to just 38 kg.

“Her condition might be apparently stable right now, but after a few hours, the condition may change rapidly.”

The doctor pointed out that the coming few days and weeks will be the “golden period” for a lung transplant, adding that the organ should come from a brain dead person with blood types A or O, and whose height is similar to the patient who is 149 cm.

The ideal donor should be under 55 years old, he added.

Ng’s sister called on the families of potential donors to come forward.

“I hope you can help and save my sister’s life,” she said, as she bowed and burst into tears.
