Flagfall charges for taxis across Hong Kong will be HK$3 higher from this Sunday.
In an announcement on Thursday, the Transport Department said the flagfall for red urban taxis will go up from HK$24 to HK$27.
Passengers of green cabs in the New Territories will be paying HK$23.5 at flagfall, while the starting charge for using a blue Lantau taxi will be HK$22.
Subsequent incremental charges will be 10 to 20 cents more expensive than at present, depending on the distance of a journey.
The Executive Council approved the taxi fare increases in May.
The government said taxi drivers will need to display a fare conversion table for passengers' reference if their meters cannot be adjusted in time for the changes.
