A motorcycle rider has died after losing control of his vehicle and colliding with a bus in Sau Mau Ping on Tuesday morning.

Police said the accident happened at around 8am near the interaction of Sau Mau Ming Road and Shun On Road.

"When approaching near the junction... the motorcycle reportedly lost control, dashed to the opposite lane and collided with the bus," the force said in a statement.

The motorbike driver, 59, sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to the United Christian Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Officers from the special investigation team of traffic in the Kowloon East region are investigating the accident and appealed for information.
