Health authorities have urged elderly people with Covid to seek help as soon as possible, saying there's been a rise in the number of infected people dying at home.

On Tuesday, officials reported six more Covid-related deaths, involving people aged between 84 and 97.

A chief manager of the Hospital Authority, Gladys Kwan, called on the elderly to get vaccinated and be more aware of their health condition.

"They think their condition is quite stable, [but] their situation or condition can deteriorate quite rapidly," Kwan said.

"We have various channels for these patients to seek help, apart from what we already have, the telephone hotline, we also will ask our colleagues to identify those patients who are at risk, and we will contact them proactively."

In total, 3,975 new local Covid cases were recorded on Tuesday, as well as 301 imported infections.

Another 175 Covid patients had been admitted to hospital, taking the total receiving care to 1,425.
