Private home prices have fallen for a second month in a row to their lowest level in one and a half years, according to government data released on Wednesday.

The Rating and Valuation Department's home price index dropped 1.1 percent month-on-month to 380.5 in June, the lowest since 379.9 in December 2020.

Large homes of more than 1,075 square feet were almost 1.6 percent cheaper than they were in May, while prices of smaller flats were down around 1.1 percent.

Compared to the same month last year, June home prices were down 3.4 percent.

Rents in June, however, snapped an eight-month downward trend and rose almost 0.74 percent month-on-month.
