July sees most 'hot nights' since 1884

The Observatory said on Thursday it has logged 22 "hot nights" so far this month – the most recorded in a month since records began in 1884.

Forecasters said in a Facebook post that there had also been a consecutive 19 "hot nights", the longest ever.

A hot night means the minimum temperature is 28 degrees Celsius or higher.

The weatherman says the very hot weather will continue until early next week.

Showers and thunderstorms, meanwhile, are expected in the middle and latter parts of next week.
