Two more former childcare workers at a Prince Edward foster home have pleaded guilty to abusing youngsters there.

Cheung Wai-yin, 30, and Lee Pui-ching, 32, appeared before Acting Principal Magistrate Peony Wong from the Kowloon City Court on Thursday.

Cheung admitted to ill-treating or neglecting two boys under her care at the Children's Residential Home in November and December last year.

The court heard that Cheung had assaulted the toddlers, including shoving and slapping one of them on one occasion.

She has been remanded in custody, pending sentencing two weeks later.

Lee, meanwhile, pleaded guilty to assaulting a child, with the court hearing that she had slapped the girl multiple times last December.

The magistrate adjourned the case to September for mitigation and sentencing.

A third defendant, Chan Oi-ying, pleaded not guilty to her child abuse charge, and will return to court for another hearing next year.

Five other defendants also had their hearings scheduled for later.

The eight were among more than 30 people facing charges in connection with a child abuse scandal at the facility in Prince Edward.

Two other defendants, Heung Wing-shan and Lam Mei-po, had earlier pleaded guilty and were sentenced to up to around seven months behind bars.
