A security guard has died after she was struck by a falling car park gate at the Yaumatei Maternal and Child Health Centre.

The industrial accident happened at around 6pm on Monday when the gate measuring 4.7 metres wide and 2.5 metres tall hit the woman.

The police said the victim, 43, sustained multiple injuries and was rushed to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

She was pronounced dead shortly after midnight.
