The Security Bureau said a job scam victim who sought help from the Immigration Department returned to Hong Kong safely on Monday.
A spokesman said he returned with the help of the Foreign Ministry's office in Hong Kong, the Chinese Embassy in Thailand, the bureau's dedicated task force and the government's Economic and Trade Office in Bangkok.
"The person thanked the country and the HKSAR Government for their proactive follow-up and vigorous assistance which secured his prompt and safe return to Hong Kong," the spokesman said in a statement.
He added the bureau is highly concerned with suspected job scam cases involving Hongkongers, and it gives priority to saving residents and coordinating the efforts of different departments to help victims to return to the SAR safely.
The spokesman stressed that people trapped and their family members should contact the Immigration Department as soon as possible.
