The government said on Thursday it's reducing the number of Covid tests required for people arriving in Hong Kong from the mainland and Macau, as they pose "very low" infection risks to the SAR.

From Saturday, those arriving here under the Return2hk or Come2hk scheme, as well as those who are allowed to undergo home quarantine, will only need to have one PCR test on day two of their arrival.

Currently, they are tested on day four and six.

Health officials also said they are scrapping the "test-and-hold" arrangement for travellers arriving at the airport from the mainland or Macau from Saturday, noting no imported cases from these two places were found in recent months.

They said the new arrangements will be in line with those covering travellers from overseas and Taiwan.
