A police officer who was injured by a secondary school student with a box cutter three years ago has filed a claim in the District Court for compensation.

A court document said the defendant, Hui Tim-lik, who's now 21, had attacked officer Leung Shiu-cheung and injured his right neck.

The injury left behind a 3.5-centimetre wound, as well as damages to blood vessels, nerves and muscles in his throat, it said.

The document did not state how much money Leung is seeking from Hui.

Hui is serving a seven-year-and-nine-month term in prison for wounding Leung with intent during a protest in Kwun Tong on October 13, 2019.
