The government announced that from Saturday, outbound and transit passengers departing for overseas places and Taiwan will no longer be required to undergo temperature screening at the Hong Kong International Airport.

Inbound passengers as well as those bound for the mainland and Macau, however, will still need to be screened.

In a statement, authorities said it’s made the adjustment in light of the relaxation of anti-Covid rules around the world.

“Some overseas places have started to streamline their inbound anti-epidemic measures in the light of the epidemic development. International travel is also progressively resuming”, the statement wrote.

“Considering that most overseas places have removed inbound restrictions in relation to Covid-19, the government will suspend from tomorrow the temperature screening for passengers departing from Hong Kong and transit passengers bound for overseas places or Taiwan to facilitate the relevant passengers.”
