Erling Haaland haunted his former club as Manchester City were forced to come from a goal down to beat Borussia Dortmund 2-1 on Wednesday and put one foot in the last 16 of the Champions League.
The Norwegian had been kept remarkably quiet, but only needed the slighted glimpse of goal to extend his scoring streak to six games as his telescopic left leg prodded home the winner six minutes from time.
Haaland has now scored 13 goals in his first eight competitive games for City since they met his bargain £51 million buyout clause from the German giants.
Meanwhile, Chelsea manager Graham Potter was left frustrated as Red Bull Salzburg spoiled his first match in charge with a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw.
Potter was on course for a winning debut when Raheem Sterling put Chelsea ahead early in the second half at Stamford Bridge. But the former Brighton boss, who replaced Thomas Tuchel last week, had to settle for a point as Noah Okafor punished sloppy defending to equalise in the closing stages.
Elsewhere, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe and Neymar all scored as Paris Saint-Germain came from a goal down to win 3-1 at Maccabi Haifa and make it two wins from two in the group stage.
In the same group, Benfica took their winning run to 12 matches with a 2-1 triumph at Juventus that puts them level with PSG.
There were mixed fortunes for Scotland's clubs. Rangers defied Uefa's instructions by playing "God save the King" before being undone by a red card to James Sands in a 3-0 defeat at home to Napoli. However Celtic fared better. They drew 1-1 with Shakhtar Donetsk in Warsaw and were left to rue missed chances which could easily have handed them the full three points. (AFP)
