A second staff member at a Po Leung Kuk childcare home in Causeway Bay has been suspected of child abuse.

The Social Welfare Department said on Wednesday evening this came to light amid an investigation into a suspected abuse case that surfaced earlier this week.

The Po Leung Kuk revealed on Monday that it had reported a staff member at its Causeway Bay centre to the police for allegedly pushing six young children down on a play mat. The employee has since been suspended and arrested.

The Social Welfare Department said its inspectors went to the home on Tuesday to go through security footage, and found that another staff member was suspected to have mistreated a young child.

The child was examined and the case has been handed over to the police.
