Hong Kong on Tuesday experienced its hottest Chung Yeung Festival on record, with the temperature at the observatory reaching 33.5 degrees Celsius in the afternoon.
The previous record high was 32.5 degrees, set in 1959.
The observatory said a northeast monsoon was expected to reach the coast of Guangdong on Wednesday morning and the weather should become slightly cooler, with strengthening winds from the east.
It also said it expected a few showers on Wednesday and the following couple of days.
