The government on Monday said Financial Secretary Paul Chan has tested negative for Covid under a rapid antigen test and will return to Hong Kong.

In a statement, authorities said Chan, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, will board a flight within the day and is expected to arrive in the SAR on Tuesday afternoon.

Chan earlier extended his stay in Riyadh after catching the virus during a business trip to the Middle East. His infection was announced on Thursday.

The finance chief had said he hoped to be able to come back to Hong Kong in time to join the Global Financial Leaders' Investment Summit, which will open on Wednesday.
