The Observatory on Tuesday said tropical cyclone Nalgae had entered the northern part of the South China Sea and was steadily moving northwards. It said the Strong Wind Signal No.3 would remain in force today.

The Observatory said it expected Nalgae to be close to the Pearl River Estuary on Wednesday, with the storm skirting around 200 kilometres to the southwest of Hong Kong. It said it expected the storm to weaken gradually but that the degree of weakening remained uncertain.

The Observatory said it would closely monitor its movement and development, and assess the need of issuing a higher signal then.

At around 9am, a tree near Mong Kok East MTR Station collapsed. No one was injured.

Firefighters arrived at the junction of Luen Wan Street and Argyle Street to remove the fallen tree, which was around 15 metres tall.
