Multiple doors came off an MTR carriage on Sunday morning, with at least one person injured during an evacuation of the train.
Passengers said two sets of doors of a Tsuen Wan Line train bound for Central were damaged.
Images from the scene showed several doors that appeared to have either come off entirely or were hanging off.
Police said they received reports at around 9.30am of smoke coming from the doors of the train as it pulled into Yau Ma Tei Station.
A 78-year old woman suffered abrasions as some 750 passengers were evacuated. She was taken to hospital, police said.
Firefighters said about 600 of those evacuated left via Yau Ma Tei Station, but around 150 passengers had to walk through the tunnel to Mong Kok Station.
Firefighters and MTR engineers were dispatched to Yau Ma Tei Station.
Services between Lai King and Jordan were suspended, with replacement buses laid on.
The MTR said trains were running at eight minute intervals between Lai King and Tsuen Wan, and six minute intervals between Jordan and Central.
