A light goods vehicle managed to leave a tiny fenced road on The Peak on Thursday afternoon after being trapped there overnight.
Police said they received a call for help from the driver just before 3pm on Wednesday.
Online videos showed the van going back and forth, with part of its front bumper dangling off, as it struggled to find a way to get out of Lugard Road, which appeared to be only as wide as the vehicle itself.
Local reports cited the driver as saying that he was guided into the narrow road by a navigation app while he was on his way to deliver goods.
Police said contractors from the Highways Department removed railings at the side of the road to allow more space for the van to move.
