Police are investigating a fatal traffic accident in which a 52-year-old woman died in Wong Tai Sin on Wednesday evening.

According to the force, the incident took place at 9:20pm when a light goods vehicle, driven by a 29-year-old man, collided with a motorcycle near the junction of Tai Shing Street and Tung Tau Tsuen Road.

Police said the motorcycle reportedly went out of control as it approached the junction, causing it to move into the opposite lane. The woman, a passenger on the motorcycle, was knocked to the ground and trapped under the light goods vehicle.

After being extricated by firefighters, she was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital in an unconscious state but was declared dead at 10:37pm.

The motorcyclist had multiple injuries to his body, while the light goods vehicle driver and a 29-year-old female passenger reported feeling unwell. All three were taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in a conscious state.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.
