The Hang Seng Index lost ground on Monday after the daily Covid caseload on the mainland hit a record high, and as unrest over coronavirus restrictions was reported in a number of cities.
The index lost 275 points or 1.6 percent to finish at 17,297.
Mainland stocks also closed lower, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.75 percent to 3,078 and the Shenzhen Composite Index slipping 0.5 percent to 1,974.
There were also losses in Tokyo, Sydney, Seoul and Taipei. (Additional reporting by AFP)
