Police on Tuesday launched a murder investigation after a 64-year-old man was found fatally stabbed in a pool of his own blood at an estate in Mong Kok.

Officers were called to Hoi Fu Court shortly after 6pm after being alerted by neighbours to someone calling for help. They found the victim in a corridor with what are thought to be chop wounds to his neck, head and hand.

Ambulance crews rushed the man to Kwong Wah Hospital, where he was declared dead a short time later.

Police say a 51-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was found on a window ledge with a bottle of corrosive liquid and injuries to his arms and was taken, conscious, to Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Officers suspect the two men had a dispute before the knife attack.

Police say the suspect is being detained for enquiries. The Mong Kok District crime squad is investigating.
